Terms of Use
The short version
- sparx.work is a free noticeboard that helps electricians and improvers find each other.
- We're not an employer or an agency — any work, pay or contract is strictly between you and the other person.
- Always check the other party's grade, qualifications, right to work and insurance yourself. Grades shown are self-declared.
- Be honest, be decent, keep it legal. Dodgy or fake listings get removed.
These terms are the agreement between you and sparx.work. By using the site or adding a listing, you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
1. What sparx.work is
sparx.work is a free online listings platform — a noticeboard — that lets electricians, improvers, mates and apprentices in the UK find one another for work. It's operated by Supersparx Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 16553269), registered office: Cricket Lodge, Cranbrook Road, Staplehurst, Tonbridge, TN12 0EJ.
Important: we are only the noticeboard. sparx.work is not an employment agency or employment business, not an employer, and not a party to any arrangement you make with another user. We don't recruit, vet, supervise, employ, pay, or guarantee anyone, and we don't get involved in the work itself. Any job, day rate, contract, payment or employment is entirely between you and the other person.
2. Who can use it
To create a listing you must be at least 16, legally entitled to work in the UK, and give accurate, honest information about yourself. You're responsible for keeping your details up to date.
3. Your responsibilities
Because this is electrical work, doing your own checks matters. You agree that you are responsible for:
- Verifying the other party — their identity, ECS grade, qualifications, competence, references, right to work in the UK, and insurance. Grades and details on sparx.work are self-declared by users and not verified by us.
- Working safely and legally — complying with BS 7671, Building Regulations (including Part P), health & safety law, and any scheme or certification rules that apply to your work.
- Your own arrangements — agreeing the work, contracts, pay, tax (including CIS where relevant), IR35 status, and insurance directly with the other party.
- Only using other users' contact details for genuine work enquiries — never for spam, marketing or anything unlawful.
4. Acceptable use
When using sparx.work, you must not:
- Post false, misleading, duplicate, spam or out-of-date listings;
- Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your grade, qualifications or experience;
- Post anything unlawful, abusive, discriminatory (contrary to the Equality Act 2010), or that infringes someone's rights;
- Harvest, scrape or bulk-collect data or contact details from the site;
- Try to disrupt, hack, or get around the security of the service.
We can remove any listing and suspend or close any account that breaks these terms, at our discretion.
5. Your listings and content
You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you grant us a licence to display and share it on sparx.work to run the service. You're responsible for everything you post and confirm you have the right to post it.
6. No guarantees
sparx.work is provided “as is” and “as available”. We don't promise the site will always be available, error-free, or that the information in listings is accurate, or that you'll find work or workers through it. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the service at any time.
7. Our liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not responsible for:
- the conduct of any user, or the quality, safety, legality or outcome of any work or arrangement made through the site;
- any loss or damage arising from your dealings with another user;
- any indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit, work or opportunity.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law — including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to £100, reflecting that the service is free to use.
8. Other sites
sparx.work links to other services, including our sister site LearnSparx and trade partners. We're not responsible for the content or practices of sites we link to.
9. Privacy
How we handle your personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
10. Changes
We may update these terms as the service develops. We'll update the “last updated” date, and significant changes will be flagged on the site. Continuing to use sparx.work means you accept the current terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — though if you live elsewhere in the UK you may bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
